NB. Please let me address the function of defragging or to
defrag your hard-drive. This is generally obsessive codswallop. If you use your pc computer
12/7/365 , then to defragment your HDD (Hard Disc
Drive) makes sense every month. But if
you just use your pc to get email, blog or search for stuff then you only need
to de-fragment the files and directories once a year. This gambit is often used by computer service,
"professionals" to make you believe that; Phew!
- all is now well after a "defrag"
! In fact, if you have a very fragile hard-drive with several
read/write errors that should really be replaced ASAP, a defrag is the quickest way to terminally prove that you truly do need to replace it!
We do de-fragment the data on your hard-drive as part of our computer
support maintenance schedule, but we do not make a song-and-dance about having done that.

Most pc home-computer hard-drives now run a NTFS file system. "NTFS" means it's clever. That does not mean it will never break though! The data on your computer is only as robust as the hard-drive that it is stored upon. When choosing hard
drive replacements, we only choose the guys that are dedicated to manufacturing computer hard-drives. Who? Seagate®,
or Western Digital® to name the best, in my opinion.
We have several professional dedicated software tools at our disposal to determine the condition of your hard-disc drive. And, we can use those software tools in an attempt to fix hard-drive problems. Re-formatting your hard drive is our absolute last resort and there is no point doing that and then re-installing your computer operating system if the HDD is, "on-the-way-out" and needs replacing. To do this is a waste of your money and unprofessional.
